OUR HISTORY
Higher Ground Outreach Church was birthed on August 29, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was preordained of God. For whom God knew he also preordained to be conformed to the image of His Son.
We held our first service at the Hilton Hotel. We began to believe God for a more stable location. God answered and showed us favor. We then acquired a building on Choctaw Drive our new home but after several years of serving the community, we outgrew the building. We believed God for more space and thus we moved to 2515 N. Sherwood Forest, for His glory. We were content but not settled because we knew God had instructed our Founder, the late great Bishop Rickey T. Washington Sr. to build.
From there we have been in place to follow our leaders as they follow God. Through much prayer and preparation for the build for the last 5 years we have held service at 2156 Wooddale Blvd. For 5 years we have stayed planted and rooted in God, not moving to the right or to the left but standing on the promise of knowing that God will do just what he said.
Our next move is sure to come. We have acquired land on Joor Road and there we will build FAITH CITY, a multiplex facility equipped for ministry, the marketplace, and major community involvement.
We will continue to build a generation of leaders
People will be accepted as they are
People will be discipled into the will of God for their lives
People will be taught to live out the truth of FAITH

OUR MISSION
Our Mission at Higher Grounds Outreach Church is to guide people to a life of faith in Jesus Christ then on to lives that are fully devoted to Him. We accomplish this in three ways:
CONNECT.…people to their Creator.
We believe that people are made to be in personal relationship with the God who created them, through the person of Jesus Christ.
CAUSE...that people would find a purpose worth living for and dying for.
We believe people are made to participate with God in changing the world and impacting eternity.
COMMUNITY...provides people with genuine relationships that result in life change.
We believe people are made with the need for authentic friendships with other people. Higher Ground Outreach Church purpose is to build people of faith through the teaching and preaching of Gods Word.

WE BELIEVE
- The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
- There is one God, eternally existent in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.
- In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
- In the blessed hope - the rapture of the Church at Christ's coming. The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.
- Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
- In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
- The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
- In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
